Highlights, balayage, and vivids – the styles that can lighten up our life, literally! These styles look gorgeous on anyone, but they require additional maintenance after the initial date of service. One of the best ways to maintain the color of your original look is a toner.
What is a Toner?
Toner is a color-depositing treatment to get rid of unwanted tones. There are multiple shades that your stylist uses to achieve the color of your desire and different brands that vary in degree of permanence. Our stylists use the ammonia-free toner from Redken, which is a demi-permanent toner that can last anywhere from 8-20 washes.
Why do you need it?
After a certain period, your hair becomes more acidic, causing orange brassy tones to peep through or yellow dull tones that typically occur towards your ends. This is a totally natural process that happens to all lightened or color treated hair – so don’t panic! We got you!
Toner can be applied to any service and even unprocessed hair. Yes – even untreated hair can lose its original color, but a toner can go in and correct that!
When do you need it?
Usually every 4-6 weeks, the average Jane or John will need to come in for a toner after their service date. It takes about 30-60 minutes for the service – this includes immersing your hair in the toner solution, waiting, and rinsing out the toner. Of course, everyone is different and leadsa different lifestyle, so those times vary between individuals. Some factors that increase those unwanted tones are your personal hair-washing habits, dips in a chlorine-pool, sun exposure, and just how your hair reacts to being processed.
This demi-permanent solution has many uses in terms of maintaining your desired look. Don’t be shy in asking what options we have for you with this versatile service!
